MISSION STATEMENT
For the past four years, WT Productions has produced the Philadelphia Salsa Congress, a community-based event which offers the youth of all our regional communities and special inner-city sections the opportunity to control their emotional outburst through learning to dance Salsa, the hottest Latin dance in the world.
Our city is experiencing a youth crime crisis at this time, and it is for that reason that the Philadelphia Salsa Congress is putting forth a promotional campaign throughout our neighborhoods to challenge all youth to join us to combat crime and honor our city with the name given to us, “The City of Brotherly Love”. Having our youth engaged in art, music and dance promotes self-esteem, self-confidence, ethnic and cultural acceptance, as well as team and group skills.
WT Productions is asking the City of Philadelphia to join us, hand in hand, in this multicultural, diverse and inclusive artistic program. It is our hope that with the full energy, enthusiasm and unity this program offers to our youth, it will encourage each to express their innate talent, remain in school and excel academically, and challenge each to become better men and women of tomorrow.
We have personally witnessed our youth who become involved with Salsa groups become talented performers, learning, practicing and networking with other youth and adults, develop a new profound sense of pride and dedication, not only to themselves but their group members. Many skills are learned and developed along the way, such as social skills, creativity, athletic abilities, mutual respect and admiration for fellow human being, which will carry them through a lifetime. Our goal at WT Productions and the Philadelphia Salsa Congress is simply to “Unite Youth thru Salsa”, and we challenge you to join us in our efforts.
